Toothache, whether severe or mild, is always an obsession for patients because it always brings discomfort, pain, and fatigue. Besides treating the root of dental diseases that cause tooth decay, the following 4 natural toothache remedies will help minimize toothache.
1- Soak in saltwater
Saltwater is not simply a remedy for toothache, but it is also an effective measure recommended by dentists. Gargling with salt water helps control toothache very well thanks to the high antiseptic ability of the ingredients in salt
Pour a glass of warm water into a pre-soaked glass of high-concentration salt until the salt particles no longer dissolve. Gargle with this solution 4-5 times / 1 day regularly every day to reduce inflammation, heal soft tissues. This toothache remedy is very effective with toothache caused by gingivitis or inflammation caused by the body's response to bacteria hiding in the gum line.
2- Use clove oil
Clove is an indispensable medicine for dentists, clove essential oil can be purchased at drugstores or stores specializing in essential oils. According to the Journal of Dentistry, 2006, clove essential oil has the function of eliminating toothache as quickly and as well as benzocaine, an ingredient in anesthetics, but not harmful to health.
Put a small amount of clove essential oil on a medical gauze pad or cotton ball and gently apply it to the toothache area. This method is very effective in cases where the pulp is exposed due to a large cavity. The placement of the gauze is very important because it only works best when placed exactly where the tooth is decayed.
3- Always keep your head high
Toothaches that appear while sleeping always make you feel annoyed and pressured. A high pillow when sleeping is a commonly used toothache remedy. You can buy a dedicated high head pillow or a pillow that has many pillows on top of each other to keep your head high when lying down. If you keep your head level with your heart, the pressure of blood to your head will change and make inflammation, swelling, and pain worse.
4- Cold compress
A cold pack with half ice and half water will be a "savior" for toothaches. Do not use ice directly on the toothache area because the ice will be too cold and will cause discomfort and not significantly reduce pain.
