Besides turkey, what does the Thanksgiving menu include?

Thanksgiving is a traditional holiday of the US, Canada and some countries around the world, this is the day when family members gather, gather together, enjoy a cozy dinner. And the indispensable dish on this day is the fragrant, golden roasted turkey. So besides turkey, what else is on the Thanksgiving menu?

- Stuffing: A mixture of bread, chopped celery, carrots, onions and sage stuffed inside a turkey and then grilled. Sometimes chestnuts, chopped bacon or sausage, grapes or apples are also mixed for stuffing.

- Types of baked goods: the most popular is cornbread, but also apple, pecans, sweet potato and pate are also quite popular.

- Potatoes: Whether baked or mashed, potatoes or sweet potatoes, potatoes are an integral part of the Thanksgiving meal. After a high-protein chicken dish, potatoes are a great addition to the meal, balancing the meal.

- Cranberry Sauce: Cranberry sauce or cranberry jam is a sauce that is often served with turkey at Thanksgiving. Cranberries are simmered with sugar until thickened, forming a sour sauce that balances out the fatty flavors of turkey and mashed potatoes.

- Meat Sauce: A turkey dish will not be complete if the cook wastes the gravy and fat that is extracted while the meat is roasting in the oven. The meat sauce is obtained after the grilled chicken has absorbed the spices and aromas of vegetables and herbs, and is then cooked with flour or cornstarch to thicken. The sweetness and richness of this sauce is the soul of turkey, keeping the meat from being pale and boring.

- Sticky Beans Stew: Stewed bean sprouts were created by the Campbell soup company (USA) in 1955. This dish consists of green beans, mushroom cream sauce and fried onions. The dish was then well received and gradually became part of the traditional American Thanksgiving meal.

- Pumpkin pie: The end of the year is the time when pumpkins are ripe and at the harvest. Westerners use pumpkin popularly in their daily meals and all day Thanksgiving. Pumpkin pie has a base mainly made of flour, butter and milk, and is crispy. The pumpkin filling is smooth, mixed with milk cream and spices. When serving, each slice of cake is often accompanied by a little whipped cream and sprinkled with cinnamon powder.

- Drinks: Thanksgiving also has typical drinks like other major holidays. Depending on each family, their party will have different traditional drinks, but the most popular is still cider. Apple cider is actually non-alcoholic apple juice and is very easy to make. Apples are pressed to get water, then boiled, filtered and refrigerated.
